Such a sad but rich history of people of African descent in Canada. Time for a truth and reconciliation effort for black canadians. The time has past. Canada needs to recognize it checkered history in this regard.

Never forget Africville. This small, but intimately curated museum and park is a loving testimony to the terrible tragedy in Halifax where a community of Black Canadians was dismantled and destroyed and eventually given recognition by the government. It was heartbreaking, but also inspiring from the point of view that the people from that tight knit community fought for their legacy and at least got the church rebuilt and the area renamed.

Very educational. Take an hour to explore this place and come out with some great knowledge. The students here are absolutely committed and very encouraging. Excellent place to visit.

I loved learning about the history of Africville, especially from the two ladies who worked there and were the children/grandchildren of Africville residents. They took the time to speak to my wife and I and teach us a lot about the dark history of Nova Scotia not many people speak about or acknowledge.
